When God Asks You to Stay in a Place That Does Not Make Sense
There are seasons when God asks us to stay exactly where we do not want to be. A job that feels too small. A relationship that feels too strained. A waiting room that feels too long. A chapter that feels like it should have ended by now.
And the hardest part is that nothing about it seems to make sense.
We pray for clarity, but the path stays foggy. We pray for movement, but the doors stay closed. We pray for change, but God whispers, “Stay.”
The Disciples Knew This Feeling
Before Jesus washed the disciples’ feet in John 13, they were already confused. They expected a kingdom. They expected momentum. They expected victory.
Instead, Jesus talked about leaving.
Nothing about that moment made sense — and yet Jesus asked them to stay close, stay present, and stay with Him through the confusion.
Sometimes obedience looks like movement. Sometimes obedience looks like staying.
When Staying Feels Like Losing
We often assume that staying means settling. But biblically, staying is often where God does His deepest work.
Joseph stayed in prison. David stayed in the fields. The disciples stayed in the upper room.
Staying is not punishment. Staying is preparation.
The Place That Doesn’t Make Sense Might Be the Place God Is Using
When God asks you to stay, He is not wasting your time. He is shaping your heart.
He is strengthening trust. He is deepening roots. He is teaching you to walk by faith, not by sight.
You may not see the purpose yet — but God never plants without intention.
A Quiet Prayer for the Season You’re In
“Lord, help me trust You when the path feels unclear. Help me stay where You’ve placed me, even when it stretches me. Give me eyes to see Your purpose in this season, and a heart that rests in Your timing.”
